Project Geologist / Task Manager

Job Specific Skills/Duties:

  1. You effectively provide leadership and management to two or more projects simultaneously while also maintaining a very high level of competence.
  2. Your leadership is evaluated on the quality of decisions that are made at a high and broad level as oversight is given to each project in its entirety.
  3. Your management is evaluated on the ability to work with people and processes in such a way that all stakeholders - our staff, our customers, and the people from the regulatory agencies – find our work to be outstanding.
  4. You provide scientific and technical support to project managers by working shoulder-to-shoulder with the project managers as a hands-on mentor
  5. You carry out instructions based upon information given to you in written form, in an oral form, or through diagrams.
  6. You demonstrate competence in your ability to collect data, establish facts, and then to draw valid conclusions based upon a clearly documented definition of the problem at hand.
  7. You conduct field assignments as necessary, and then prepare, review, and present the technical reports.
  8. You conduct solid analysis of data quality objectives in a way that supports the remedial decisions that make up your/our current remedial plan.
  9. You generate and communicate accurate site conceptual models.
  10. You analyze transport/exposure pathways and discern their relevancy.
  11. You design sampling programs to support your/our remedial plans.
  12. You ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  13. You effectively supervise vendors, craftsmen, support staff, and/or contractors in a way that brings about the successful completion of the construction of the engineering controls and/or remedial measures for which you are responsible.
  14. You conduct and/or supervise environmental data collection efforts, whether it be for groundwater, soil, surface water, sediments, or air.
  15. You demonstrate the judgment to specify maps, tables, and figures that capture the relevant hydrogeologic information germane to your projects.
  16. You express, communicate, and present your conclusions and results in clear written and oral reports.
  17. You effectively use Windows-based personal computers and word processing and spreadsheet software.

Education And/Or Experience:

  1. BS degree in geological engineering, geology, or hydrogeology and more than 3 years of professional experience in environmental engineering or related field
  2. Experience must demonstrate ability to apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of assignments
  3. P.E. or P.G. Certification is preferred

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in outside weather conditions, can expect to encounter toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme cold to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee must be able to make frequent trips to local sites and travel via air and land on temporary assignments. Land travel may require the use of company or personal vehicles. Therefore, a valid driver's license in good standing is required.
