Staff Environmental Engineer

Job Specific Skills/Duties:

  1. You provide engineering/hydrologic support to senior staff by means of modeling of fate and transport of environmental contaminants which are used to assist in environmental site investigations, groundwater assessments, and development of engineering control options
  2. You perform diverse engineering, technical and project functions under the supervision of senior staff.
  3. You conduct project tasks in support of preparing remedial action plans, feasibility studies, and other engineering documents.
  4. You prepare effective proposals, subcontracts, work plans, engineering designs and reports.
  5. You effectively participate with senior staff in contact with client representatives.
  6. You conduct analysis of data quality objectives in support of remedial decisions.
  7. You generate and communicate accurate site conceptual models.
  8. You analyze transport and exposure pathways and discern their relevancy.
  9. You effectively manage vendors, craftsmen, support staff and/or contractors to successfully complete construction of engineering controls and remedial measures.
  10. You operate, trouble shoot, and maintain engineering controls and remediation systems.
  11. You demonstrate the ability and judgment to specify and generate maps, tables, and figures that capture relevant hydrogeologic information.
  12. You express, communicate, and present conclusions and results in clear written and oral reports to diverse audiences.
  13. You effectively use Windows-based personal computers and word processing and spreadsheet software
  14. You effectively use modeling software and geologic databases to simulate groundwater transport and contaminant transport in saturated and unsaturated systems.

Education And/Or Experience:

  1. BS or MS degree in geological engineering, environmental engineering, or civil engineering and less than 3 years of professional experience in environmental consulting/engineering or related field
  2. Experience (academic or work) must demonstrate ability to apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments
  3. E.I.T Certification

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in outside weather conditions and can expect to encounter toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee must be able to make frequent trips to local sites and travel via air and land on temporary assignments. Land travel may require the use of company or personal vehicles. Therefore, a valid driver's license in good standing is required.

Perform field investigation and construction oversight activities that could potentially require the following: strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and weather conditions; Standing, crouching and sitting to facilitate operation of the equipment and collecting samples; moving earth via shovels or hand augers; lifting of pumps, other remediation equipment, cases containing equipment, sample coolers and other items; and potential exposure to natural (e.g., poison ivy) and chemical hazards. Heat and cold are often times an issue.
